This guide explains the nature of pre-authorization holds placed on payment cards during charging sessions, detailing the reasons for the holds and how the amount varies based on your account status.
What is a pre-authorization hold?
A pre-authorization hold is a temporary payment reservation placed on your card account to ensure there are sufficient funds available before a charging session begins. Once the session is complete, the hold will be replaced by the final amount billed during your session.
The duration of the hold is dependent on your card provider; it might take a few days for the finalized charge to be reflected on your card statement.
