EVCS offers a range of charger types designed for different charging needs and time frames. This article explains how our Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers differ in speed, helping you plan your charge efficiently.

Charger Specifications and Time Estimates

EVCS provides both Level 2 and Level 3 charging options, detailing the power specifications of each to help you plan your session effectively.

Level 2 Charging (AC)

Level 2 equipment typically provides discounted rates compared to DC Fast Charging, making it the most cost-effective option for extended charging sessions, such as workplace or overnight charging.

  • Power Rating: Level 2 chargers on the network range from 7 kW to 11 kW.
  • Charging Time Estimate: A full charge typically takes several hours or more to complete.
  • Context: This level is suitable for destinations where you plan to stay for several hours.

Level 3 Charging (DC Fast)

Direct Current Fast Charging (DCFC) provides the highest energy transfer rates, significantly reducing the time you spend at the charger.

  • Power Rating: DC Fast Chargers (DCFC) on the network typically range from 50 kW to 350 kW.
  • Charging Time Estimate: Can provide a significant boost in charge in less than an hour (typically 30–60 minutes), depending on the specific charger's rating.
  • Note: Level 3 charging is significantly faster than Level 2 charging.

What Determines Charging Time?
