This guide provides an overview of the different ways you can pay for charging on the EVCS network, detailing the initiation method, accepted cards, and important information about pre-authorization holds.

Accepted Forms of Payment

EVCS accepts the following primary forms of payment for all transactions across our network:

  • Credit and Debit Cards: We accept most major credit, debit, and prepaid debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, etc.).
  • Mobile Wallets: We accept digital payments through Apple Pay and Google Pay, accessible via the QR Code/Web Portal only.
  • EVCS RFID Card: Used exclusively by authorized commercial customers (with an EVCS-provided card).

Choosing Your Payment Plan

Subscription Plans

  • Benefit: Provides a monthly kWh allowance and discounted overage rates, making charging more affordable and predictable for frequent drivers.
  • Waiver Note: Note that only subscribers with a kWh allowance plan are eligible to have pre-authorization holds waived. Subscribers to the Basic Plan are still subject to the member hold.

How to Initiate Payment

The method you choose to start your session dictates the type of charger you can use and which payment types are accepted.

  1. The EVCS App (Recommended for All): Initiate and manage sessions using stored credit cards or mobile wallets. This method is compatible with all Level 2 and Level 3 (DC Fast) charger types.
