Who Should Use This Guide

1. Getting Started

Plug In Your Vehicle

Ensure your vehicle is turned off before proceeding.

Select the correct charging plug for your vehicle and firmly plug it into your vehicle's charging port.

Locate the RFID Card Reader

EVCS charging stations are equipped with an RFID card reader that allows you to initiate a session with your provided card.

Please note: The appearance and location of the RFID card reader can vary depending on the specific charging station model. It may be a clearly marked area with an RFID symbol, a designated section on the station's LCD screen bezel, or a separate small panel.

Look for a symbol that resembles radio waves or a card icon near the reader.

Credit Cards Not Compatible with RFID Reader

Attempting to tap a credit card on the RFID card reader will result in an error and will not initiate a charging session. The RFID card reader is specifically designed for use with EVCS-provided RFID cards for commercial customers.

Examples of RFID Card Readers:

Here are a few examples of what the RFID card reader might look like on different EVCS charging stations:

Example 3: A separate, small panel housing the RFID card reader.

The exact appearance may vary, but look for the RFID symbol or a designated area to tap your card.

Tap Your RFID Card

Once you have located the RFID card reader, hold the card against the designated reading surface of the card reader. You may hear a beep or see a light indicator to confirm the card has been read.

Charging Session Authorization and Start

After your RFID card is successfully read, the charging station will authenticate your commercial account.

Once authenticated, the charging session will begin automatically. You should see a confirmation message on the station's screen (if equipped) or an indication that power is being delivered to your vehicle.

Some stations may additionally require you to press a "Start" button on the front panel.

2. During Your Charging Session

Monitoring Your Charging Session

For stations equipped with an LCD screen, you can monitor your charging progress directly on the display. For charging stations without an LCD screen, please refer to the indicator lights on the station for charging status.

3. Ending Your Session

Stopping the Charge

The method for ending your charging session may vary depending on the station type:

  • Stations with an LCD Screen or Button Panel: Follow the on-screen prompts or use the designated "Stop Charging" button on the station.
  • Certain L2 Stations without an LCD Display: To end your session, you may tap your EVCS RFID card on the card reader again to stop the charging process.

Unplug Your Vehicle

Once the charging session has ended, carefully disconnect the charging plug from your vehicle and return it to the cradle.
